Leptin receptors are expressed on mesolimbic dopamine neurons, yet little is
known about the functional significance of this anatomical relationship. In this
issue of Neuron, Hommel et al. reveal a novel site for leptin’s regulation of
feeding. In turn, Fulton et al. propose a novel role for leptin in regulating
non-feeding-related motivated behaviors.
