Workshop “Introduction to experimental neuroscience” / July 15th to 27th, 2024

in partnership with the Bordeaux Neurocampus Graduate Program in the frame of the Bordeaux Summer Schools

July 15th to 27th, 2024

We are looking for instructors!

As part of the Bordeaux Neurocampus Graduate Program, we are looking for instructors for the workshop “Introduction to Experimental Neuroscience”. With this workshop, we aim to share our passion for neuroscience, to create interdisciplinarity and develop scientific discussions between students and researchers from different levels of expertise.

How does it work?

The objective will be to introduce master or PhD students from various background outside the neuroscientific field to the experimental Neuroscience. We will welcome students from physics, engineering, mathematics, psychology and many others.
Your mission will be to supervise a group of 2 or 3 students during 6 days, in English, to implement a mini project according to your specific technical skills. Of course, in order to develop your project, you will have the assistance of experienced researchers and university professors as well as the teams of the Bordeaux School of Neuroscience and the Bordeaux Neurocampus Graduate Program. As you will work with students who may not have any previous experience in a wet lab and as the aim of this workshop is for them to directly perform the experiments under your supervision, our suggestion is to keep things easy.

A panel of experts

International experts from different areas of neuroscience will supervise the program organization:

  • David Jarriault: electrophysiology
  • Nicolas Mallet: in vivo electrophysiology, optogenetics and behavior
  • Emilie Pacary: brain development, neuronal migration and adult neurogenesis
  • David Perrais: Cellular neurobiology

Why should you participate?

As instructor of the workshop, you will receive a certificate attesting your role and the competences developed in that context:

– coaching and supervision
– pedagogical engineering
– project management

The application deadline is March 15th, 2024.

As an example, you can find here the projects of 2023 session. Please note that this is just an example, you will have to build your own project.
