Title

Cortical perisomatic inhibition:  a tale of two interneurons

Abstract

Cortical perisomatic inhibition onto pyramidal neurons is provided by two major interneuron classes: parvalbumin- and cholecystokinin-containing basket cells. Both basket cell subtypes exhibit unique functional synaptic and plasticity properties. I will discuss how they can differentially sculpt pyramidal-neuron output activity during cognitive-relevant network activity.
