Sleep and mental health: Observing the population
Abstract
In this talk, Dr. Annemarie Luik of the department of Epidemiology at the Erasmus MC University Medical Center, Rotterdam, Netherlands, will discuss the role of sleep in mental health from a population-based perspective. She will present data of the Rotterdam Study, a prospective cohort including middle-aged and elderly persons, allowing the investigation of subclinical disturbances of sleep over time. Although often overlooked, subclinical disturbances in sleep can pose a substantial burden to everyday life and harm health over time, particularly mental health.
