Équilibre énergétique et obésité
Dans la culture occidentale, la maitrise de l’environnement et l’accès à la nourriture a été accélérée ces dernières décennies. Publicités, fast-food, supermarchés… la nourriture est à portée de main favorisant le surpoids et l’obésité. Alors que pendant des milliers d’années notre corps s’est adapté aux périodes de carences et notre cerveau n’avait qu’une idée en tête : absorber et stocker le moindre gras ou sucre pour garantir la survie et la reproduction de l’individu. Notre équipe s’intéresse à l’étude des mécanismes qui sont impliqués au niveau cérébral dans la détection et intégration des signaux liés aux nutriments et hormones et qui régulent le comportement alimentaire, le poids corporel et le métabolisme. Nos études ont permis de mettre en évidence l’action clé de senseurs énergétiques, comme le complexe protéique appelé mTOR et du système endocannabinoïde dans régulation de la prise alimentaire et du poids corporel. Par l’étude de ces mécanismes, leurs cibles et leur localisation, nous consacrons nos recherches à comprendre comment la balance énergétique est régulée à la fois chez des sujets sains et obeses par des approches expérimentales et médicales.
