Postdoctoral position in Neuroscience/Neuroendocrinology

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Energy Balance and Obesity research team at the INSERM Unit U1215, Neurocentre Magendie in
Bordeaux, France (https://neurocentre-magendie.fr).

The research focus of the team is the study of the neurobiology of obesity and diabetes. The current project aims to shed light on the molecular and functional heterogeneity of hypothalamic neuroendocrine neurons using state-of-the-art single cell molecular and functional profiling methods. This project is fully funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant. The candidate will use specific genetic mouse models, stereotactic surgery and viral approaches combined with in vivo behavioural and metabolic assessments, molecular biology and neuroanatomical analyses. The project will also involve the use of FACS sorting of hypothalamic neurons, patch-clamp electrophysiology, and single nucleus mRNA sequencing.

Candidates should have recently obtained a PhD in neuroscience/neurobiology/nutrition/or metabolism. Previous experience in the study of hypothalamic neuronal circuits in rodent models is preferred but not essential. Candidates with experience in single cell biology in other disciplines and a willingness to study the brain are also welcome. The ability to work both independently and in a team is essential.

Preferred start date is September 2024, but can be negotiated. The initial contract will be for 2 years, with possible extension up to 5 years.

Candidates should send their CV, letter of motivation, list of publications and at least 2 letters of reference to Dr Carmelo Quarta ().
