Enhancing Frontal Executive Function in Cerebral Small Vessel Disease Using Photobiostimulation and Portable Neuroimaging
The Neuroimaging functional Group (GIN), headed by Michel Thiebaut de Schotten at the Institut des Maladies Neurodégénératives (IMN) in Bordeaux, is seeking a talented, enthusiastic and independent postdoctoral scientist to work on a project investigating the effect of transcranial photobiomodulation (tPBM) to enhance frontal executive functions in cSVD patients and controls.
The project has two main objectives: 1) evaluate whether tPBM boosts frontal activation (via fNIRS/fMRI) and improves performance on executive tasks; 2) investigate whether baseline mitochondrial efficiency (via MRI-based biomarkers) predicts responsiveness to tPBM. The final goal is to develop and validate a portable, affordable, stimulation/monitoring device suited to clinical and low-resource settings.
This project is funded by the Vascular Brain Health Institute (VBHI).
Position available starting Fall 2025 – Winter 2026 for a period of 12 months, with a one-year extension.
Interested candidates should send a cover letter with a brief description of research experiences, interests and accomplishments, their CV and the names of 2 to 3 references to:
Laure Zago and Michel Thiebaut de Schotten
