Marc Auriacombe received Nyswander/Dole « Marie » Award 2019

Marc Auriacombe, MD, from the SANPSY Lab /University of Bordeaux, CHU Bordeaux and CH Ch. Perrens in Bordeaux, France, is among those to receive the 2019 Nyswander/Dole Award. Successful Award recipients have devoted themselves to improving the lives of patients in our treatment system through promotion of quality treatment, addiction research and training and mentoring. Dr. Vincent P. Dole and Dr. Marie Nyswander who hypothesized opioid addiction as a metabolic brain disorder and “invented” methadone maintenance treatment as a metabolic regulator in the early 1960s were the first recipients of this Award in 1983. The American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD) has been responsible for bestowing this honor since the first Regional Conference of 1984 in New York, NY.
