Engineer (IE) or Research Engineer (IR) in Behavioral Neurobiology

The qualifications sought for this position correspond to those of an Engineer (IE) or Research Engineer (IR) in Behavioral Neurobiology, depending on titles (with/without PhD) and experience. The main mission of the engineer will be to participate in a project investigating the role of subpopulation of hypothalamic neurons in the regulation of whole body metabolic flexibility and impact on the vulnerability to obesity.

The engineer will join the energy balance and obesity laboratory at the neurocentre Magendie, whose work focuses on the neurobiology of obesity (http://www.neurocentre-magendie.fr/cota).

The candidate will be involved in all stages of the project and will conduct feeding behavioral testing in mice coupled with in vivo analyses of energy substrates use. Tasks will include stereotaxic surgeries and use of viral vectors, in vivo pharmacology, ELISA, western blot, immunohistochemistry, fluorescent in situ hybridization and RNAscope. The candidate will be in charge of data collection, analysis, and formatting.

Desired prerequisites: Animal experimentation certification as well as training in small animal surgery and practical experience in the field of behavioral neuroscience. Proficiency in immunohistochemistry techniques.

Contract duration: 12 months, renewable

Desired start date: September/October 2025.
