A new device for cryo-fixation available at the BIC Photonic

The BIC photonic is now equipped with a new cryogenic device: the Leica EM GP2, which enables cryo-fixation of thin sample (< 5 µm) by plunge freezing.

This new device is optimized for cellular studies and includes several features designed to preserve cell integrity. It offers an excellent solution to improve cellular sample preparation under cryogenic condition, and can serve as a starting point for developing new cryoCLEM approaches.

The EM GP2 is now fully operational at the BIC. This cryo-plunger ensures high-quality preservation (see yellow labelling of the cell membrane) and provides a robust workflow for cryoCLEM studies (see cryo-electron tomography of cellular membrane)

If you would like to test the EM GP2 with your sample or discuss potential applications, please contact: Noémie Pied ()
