
Assistant engineer in biology and immunohistochemistry
Contract duration: 1 year
Start date: December 2026 – January 2027
Responsibilities:
Conduct behavioural experiments and analyze data for a research project aimed at characterizing the impact of stress on the neuroanatomical development of the hippocampus in mice.
Activities:
Specific activities:
- Handling mice
- Conducting behavioural tests (memory, emotion)
- Assisting with / performing stereotactic surgeries
- Sectioning brains
- Performing immunohistochemical staining to visualize markers of interest
- Carrying out microscopic analyses (cell counting and morphological analysis)
- Recording results (Excel spreadsheet)
- Formatting results (Excel, PowerPoint)
General duties:
- Laboratory maintenance
- Preparing solutions
- Drafting protocol sheets
- Stock management
- Waste management
Skills:
- Proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment and bench techniques
- Training in animal experimentation
- Conducting and analyzing behavioural tests
- Immunohistology: sample preparation, immunostaining
- Microscopy
- Proficiency in Excel
- Knowledge of GLP regulations and H&S guidelines
- Technical rigour (adherence to procedures and guidelines), strong organizational skills, team spirit, attention to detail, precision
Required qualification: Two years’ higher education (BTS, IUT), Master’s degree
