Engineer in Neuroscience
The Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience of the Bordeaux Neurocampus Department is a world-leading internationally oriented neuroscience research center committed to exploring synaptic and circuit mechanisms of brain function in physiological and in pathological conditions. Christophe Mulle and Mario Carta are looking for an Engineer (Research assistant) (f/m/d) in Neuroscience to work on a collaborative project funded by the French National Research Agency on the Thalamus control of memory engrams in the retrosplenial cortex.
The project is based on elaborate circuit tracing and electrophysiological experiments in slices, in combination with cellular imaging and optogenetic stimulations in the context of memory acquisition and consolidation. The successful candidate will work independently on his/her project, but interact closely with the PIs and collaborate with the teams of Bruno Bontempi and Matthieu Wolff at INCIA. She/he will be supported in her/his project by Noëlle Grosjean, a technical assistant, in aspects related to animal experimentation and behavior.
The position is available from November 2025 and initially for 2 years.
Requirements
- Independence and enthusiasm for research on the theme of synapses and neural circuits in behavior.
- Master or PhD in neuroscience.
- Prior experience with slice electrophysiology techniques is a strong asset.
- Agreement to perform experimentation in mice.
- Collaborative mindset, good communication skills and language proficiency in English
We offer
- Excellent scientific infrastructure with state-of-the-art research facilities.
- Local collaborative environment through the ANR project, with a strong focus on science and research.
- Extensive scientific training and individual mentoring by the PIs, as well as additional support for structured career development via the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and the Bordeaux Neurocampus department.
- Opportunities to engage in mentoring, and in participating in the Cajal Advanced Neuroscience training activities at the Bordeaux School of Neuroscience.
- Employment, salary and social benefits are determined by the CNRS.
We are looking forward to your application consisting of a short cover letter stating your motivation and research interests, a CV as well as two references. Please submit your application to Christophe Mulle . Interviews will first be conducted via video conferencing, followed by a possible on-site visit to Bordeaux at a second stage. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis and considered until the position is filled.
