Many diverse signals regulate feeding behavior. In Nature Metabolism, Xiao et
al. describe the discovery of a new appetite-suppressant metabolite found in
pythons, which is also conserved in humans. This research broadens our
understanding of postprandial physiology and raises new questions related to
metabolic pathology and therapy.
