Engineer position

The Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience of the Bordeaux Neurocampus Department is a research center committed to exploring synaptic and circuit mechanisms of brain function in physiological and in pathological conditions.

Lisa Roux is looking for an Engineer (f/m/d) to work on a collaborative project funded by the French National Research Agency on the role basal forebrain inputs on piriform cortex physiology.

The project is based on in vivo electrophysiological experiments in mice, in combination with optogenetic stimulations and chemogenetic manipulations in olfactory task and spatial navigation tasks. The engineer will perform a diversity of activities, including behavioral training, cerebral implantations, implant fabrication and will contribute to the general organization of the team.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Lisa Roux and Evan Harrell in collaboration with the rest of the team.

The position is available from January 2026 for an initial period of 10 months (renewable).

Requirements

  • Regulatory training for animal experimentation (at minimum: operator level)
  • Prior experience with rodent behavior and stereotaxic surgeries is a strong asset.
  • Collaborative mindset, good communication skills (including in English)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to report experiments/results and rigorously follow an experimental protocol
