Titre
Dopamine in learning and motivation
Abstract
Phasic dopamine activity is associated with reinforcing stimulus-action responses through the modulation of long-term synaptic plasticity. However, mixed results have been obtained regarding the motivational effects of phasic dopamine on ongoing behaviors. This presentation will go over recordings from dopaminergic and prefrontal areas in mice performing self-paced actions, a novel theory of ‘latent attractors’ to explain the dual role of dopamine in learning and
motivation, and an experimental test of predictions derived from our theory.
