Research engineer position available in System Neuroscience
Applications are invited to join a multidisciplinary team of research in the Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases at Bordeaux University. We seek a Research Engineer (alternatively a Postdoctoral Neuroscientist) dedicated to data management/analysis as part of a project funded by the Fondation pour la Recherche Medical (FRM).
Our team ‘Network dynamics for procedural learning‘ is a dynamic and multidisciplinary research team composed of scientist from diverse academic backgrounds (i.e. physics, neuroscience, medicine). In this project, we aim at understanding the contribution of synchronized and oscillatory neuronal activities in basal ganglia circuits to movement execution in healthy condition or during movement disorders (i.e. Parkinson’s disease). We are currently generating a large dataset of electrophysiological recordings during a forelimb motor task in animal models (rodent and primate) and human patients. We are looking for candidates with strong background in signal analysis and programming using Python/Matlab language to develop data processing pipeline and analysis toolbox. Experimental or computational training would also be extremely useful.
Desired Profile: Junior engineer mastering the python language and interested by system neuroscience research. A good knowledge of linear algebra is required as well as knowledge of English, data time series, machine learning, etc.
This position is available for at least 3 years starting in January 2023. Selection will be open until position is filled. Interested applicants should send their CV, a cover letter detailing their experiences and interests, and two letters of reference to:
The Institute of Neurodegenerative diseases is part of the Bordeaux Neurocampus department which includes 6 neuroscience institutes covering research themes from the cellular scale to behavior and provides an exciting and stimulating scientific environment.
