Postdoctoral Position in Behavioral Neuroscience

A post-doctoral position is available at the Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases (IMN, CNRS UMR 5293) to study the effects of altered gravitational environments experienced by astronauts during spaceflights.

Ground-based models of hypergravity and microgravity in rodents will be coupled to innovative learning and memory paradigms as well as state-of-the-art brain imaging, cellular and molecular techniques amenable for unraveling potential altered cognitive processes and underlying cerebral mechanisms.The post-doctoral fellow will join a dynamic research team and will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and writing up manuscripts. Daily supervision of PhD and/or MSc students associated to the project will also be part of his duties.

The highly motivated candidate, ideally with prior post-doctoral experience, should have a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience with a strong track record including publications in leading journals. Preference will be given to applicants possessing solid experience of behavior in mice and rats, particularly operant conditioning protocols of learning and memory which will be crucial to the project. Knowledge of rodent surgery (stereotaxy, immunocytochemistry, behavioral pharmacology and basic molecular biology) techniques is also desired, but not mandatory. The successful candidate for this position proposed in close partnership with the world famous Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES) must be identified by April 1st, with a start date no later than December 2019, upon agreement.

The candidate will be hired for a period of 24 months at a level of research scientist according to the CNES standards. Salary will include social security, health and retirement benefits.
