Post-doctoral position in dopamine synapse cell biology
We are seeking to recruit as soon as possible a post-doctoral fellow expert in cell biology, fluorescence imaging and/or proteomics to study the heterogeneity of central synapses.
The project aims at studying the molecular and cellular organization of central modulatory synapses. Building on the recent work of the Herzog group on synapse purification and molecular dissection (Blumenstock, Acta Neuropathol, 2019 ; Hafner, Science, 2019 ; Biesemann, EMBOJ, 2014) we purified dopaminergic synaptosomes from adult mouse brains using fluorescence activated synaptosome sorting. Our ex-vivo model revealed an overview of the molecular synaptome of dopaminergic projections. In this new project, we will dissect the proteomics, cellular and functional features of dopaminergic synapses in purified synaptosomes and intact tissue at basal state and following exposure to cocaine as a model of plasticity. Altogether, we will unravel the first cellular and molecular map of the dopaminergic synapse in physiology and pathology.
The position is funded by an ANR grant from E. Herzog and D. Perrais for two years. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a proven track record of success, if possible immediately after their PhD, and in any case no more than four years after their PhD.
