SUMMARY:Friday seminar - Camille Lassalle
DESCRIPTION:Venue: Centre Broca \n\nCamille Lassalle\nAssistant professor\nBarcelona Institute for Global Health\, Spain \nInvited by Jean-Christophe Delpech (Nutrineuro) \nTitle\nFrom epidemiology to precision nutritional psychiatry: Diet\, circadian health\, and mental disorders \nAbstract\nHow can epidemiology inform the next generation of nutritional psychiatry? This seminar will present evidence linking nutrition to mental health\, from pioneering work on dietary patterns and depression to studies on specific food groups and findings from the Global Burden of Disease\, Lifestyle And Mental Disorders (GLAD) project. It will also cover recent research on ultra-processed food consumption and postpartum depression\, and introduce emerging work on chrononutrition and circadian health. The seminar will conclude by discussing future directions that integrate epidemiology with biomarker discovery\, intervention studies\, and mechanistic research\, including the gut microbiome\, inflammation\, and extracellular vesicles\, to advance precision prevention of mental disorders. \nBioscketch\nCamille Lassale\, PhD\, is Head of the Circadian Health Area at ISGlobal and founder of the NutriEpi research group. Her research integrates nutritional epidemiology\, nutritional psychiatry\, chronobiology\, exposome science\, and multi-omics to investigate how diet quality and meal timing influence mental\, cardiometabolic\, and cancer health. Her work has contributed to establishing the evidence base for nutritional psychiatry\, from pioneering meta-analyses linking healthy dietary patterns to a lower risk of depression to current research on chrononutrition and circadian health. She is an active advisory member of the Global Burden of Disease\, Lifestyle And Mental Disorders (GLAD) project and leads international research initiatives including CUPID and SHE-WORK. Beyond advancing scientific knowledge\, her research has informed public policy: evidence from her work on diet quality and depression contributed to a resolution adopted by the Parliament of Catalonia promoting the integration of nutritional education into mental healthcare. Her current research aims to bridge epidemiology with biomarkers and interventions to advance precision prevention of mental disorders and other chronic diseases. \n
