SUMMARY:IMPACT Seminar - Ysbrand van der Werf
DESCRIPTION:Venue: BBS \n\nPr. Ysbrand van der Werf \n– Professor of Functional Neuroanatomy\, Department Head Anatomy & Neurosciences\, VUmc\, Amsterdam\, The Netherlands\n– Secretary Dutch/Flemish Brain Stimulation Foundation\n– President Executive committee of the Assembly of the National Sleep Societies (ANSS-ESRS) \nInvited by Gwenaëlle Catheline\,\nINCIA – SWAN team\ngwenaelle.catheline@u-bordeaux.fr \nOrganized by the Réseau de Recherche Impulsion IMPACT \nTitle\nNeural imaging of Parkinson’s disease; a worldwide consortium approach \nAbstract\nMR investigations of Parkinson’s disease have over the years led to inconsistent and irreproducible results due to small samples and selection biases. We here apply a worldwide consortium approach (ENIGMA-Parkinson’s disease) and use it to perform analyses on thousands of scans of PD patients and control subjects. Using the power of numbers we are able to show subtle yet meaningful\, and unexpected\, results that cut across socioeconomic\, racial and geographical boundaries. \n  \n
