Anna Beyeler.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Robert Debr\u00e9 Association 2024 Prize for Fundamental Research has been awarded to Anna Beyeler<\/strong>, Inserm Research Director and head of the \u201cNeural Circuits of Anxiety\u201d team at the Neurocentre Magendie (Inserm\/University of Bordeaux), for her work on the neurobiology of anxiety.<\/p>\n

\n

Her research aims to identify the neural circuits involved in the pathophysiology of anxiety, as well as the mechanisms of vulnerability and resilience to anxiety disorders. To do this, her team uses cutting-edge techniques\u2014optogenetics, electrophysiology, artificial intelligence algorithms\u2014to analyze in mouse models how serotonin influences anxious behaviors and individual variability, in relation to the limbic circuits that control emotions.Ultimately, this work aims to identify specific neural signatures in order to develop targeted therapeutic approaches to regulate these circuits and alleviate anxiety disorders.<\/p>\n

Each year, the Robert-Debr\u00e9 Association for Medical Research awards two grand prizes of \u20ac50,000 each, one for clinical research and the other for fundamental research. These prizes are intended to honor the research work of teams engaged in biological and medical research and to facilitate the continuation and development of their projects.<\/p>\n

Congratulations also to the two winners of the 2024 clinical award: Camille Le Ray (Center for Research in Epidemiology and Statistics\/AP-HP) and Lisa Derosa (Gustave Roussy Institute).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
