Consequently, any anomalies in these developmental processes will necessarily have dramatic and potentially life-threatening consequences. This is the case in the Central Congenital Hypoventilation syndrome (CCHS), a rare genetic disease characterized by a severe hypoventilation, an abnormally high occurrence of apneas and a loss of central chemoreception. These respiratory defaults are lethal, currently no pharmaceutical treatment exists and survival necessarily requires constraining mechanical ventilation through tracheotomy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_180075\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-180075\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/DN3-team-360x259.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[180072]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-180075\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/DN3-team-360x259.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/DN3-team-360x259.jpg 360w, https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/DN3-team-770x554.jpg 770w, https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/DN3-team-768x552.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/DN3-team.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-180075\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">DN3 team in September 2024 (Credit: Lo\u00efc Grattier)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Using a well-established rodent model for CCHS, we propose a research project aiming at identifying one or several classes of molecules with potential therapeutic interests in alleviating CCHS-associated breathing deficiencies and defining their key targets in the central nervous system.
