{"id":160006,"date":"2023-06-02T15:27:59","date_gmt":"2023-06-02T13:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/resultats-de-lenquete-2022-sur-les-inegalites-liees-au-genre\/"},"modified":"2023-11-10T09:39:12","modified_gmt":"2023-11-10T08:39:12","slug":"results-of-2022-gender-equality-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/en\/results-of-2022-gender-equality-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"Results of 2022 gender equality survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Neurocampus Parity Committee (NPC)<\/strong> was created in 2020 to promote diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and combat gender-based violence (GBV) and discrimination within the neuroscience community at the University of Bordeaux.<\/p>\n<p>From April to June 2022, a questionnaire was submitted to the Bordeaux Neurocampus community. The survey questionnaire is an adaptation of a questionnaire developed by the RESET 5 consortium, and was RGPD compliant.<\/p>\n<p>Over a quarter of the Bordeaux Neurocampus responded, with <strong>205 usable responses<\/strong>. The sample is <strong>64% female<\/strong>. The <strong>average age<\/strong> of respondents is 40 years +\/- SD 11 (range: 23-67) and significantly lower for <strong>women (38.5)<\/strong>, than for <strong>men (40.9)<\/strong>. 56% are tenured contracts, with a fairly strong imbalance between tenured women (50%) and tenured men (69%).<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"redTitle\">Results of the survey<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/CPN_2023_report_en_final.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-159998\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cpn.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cpn.png 400w, https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/cpn-254x360.png 254w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 177px) 100vw, 177px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/CPN_2023_report_en_final.pdf\">Full results of the 2022 survey here (PDF)<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>2022 key figures<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Of 54 research teams, 79% are headed by men.<\/strong><br \/>\n1 woman in 3 is involved in decision-making, compared with 1 man in 2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Most funding goes to men:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; in research positions (from PhD to director), 21% of female researchers do not apply for funding, compared with only 4% of male researchers;<br \/>\n&#8211; conversely, 13% of male researchers are very satisfied with their success rate in funding applications, compared with only 3% of female researchers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>At the start of their careers, women are more adversely affected by work-life imbalance and parenthood:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211;
