{"id":143192,"date":"2022-01-17T17:21:20","date_gmt":"2022-01-17T16:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/2022-well-being-webinar-serie\/"},"modified":"2022-01-17T18:04:02","modified_gmt":"2022-01-17T17:04:02","slug":"2022-well-being-webinar-serie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/en\/2022-well-being-webinar-serie\/","title":{"rendered":"2022 Well-being Webinar Serie"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>We all know that academic life can be challenging for students at times, and COVID-19 has exacerbated this experience for many.<\/p>\n<p>According to the CED survey of 2021 (response of 632 UB Ph.D. students) :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ql-indent-1\">54 % describe a loss of energy and fatigue<\/li>\n<li class=\"ql-indent-1\">31% depressive mood<\/li>\n<li class=\"ql-indent-1\">62% consider decreased motivation and low spirits as an obstacle to the progress of the thesis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To address this concern, the Bordeaux Neurocampus Graduate Program is launching in 2022 seven webinar sessions (see below) to address MSc and Ph.D. students&#8217; <span id=\"DWT2776\" class=\"ZmSearchResult\"><span id=\"DWT2801\" class=\"ZmSearchResult\">well<\/span><\/span>&#8211;<span id=\"DWT2778\" class=\"ZmSearchResult\"><span id=\"DWT2803\" class=\"ZmSearchResult\">being<\/span><\/span> and mental health and help them thrive in academia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>The first session session is\u00a0specifically designed for\u00a0<strong>supervisors.<\/strong><\/div>\n<h2>Webinar for Supervisors<\/h2>\n<h3>Supporting student mental health and well-being. Motivation and Procrastination<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Time: Jun 8, 2022, 12h30<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Procrastination is a way of easing our own discomfort. Discomfort because the task is too hard, too boring, too big, too scary. The difficulty with procrastinating is that it makes you feel better for a moment, which makes it very reinforcing (and therefore more likely that you will do it again next time), but it does nothing to fix the reason the task feels uncomfortable to begin with. It is still too big, too hard, too scary, or too boring the next time you sit down to do it. So, the cycle repeats.<\/p>\n<p>We discuss ways to:<br \/>\n1. Explore drivers of our motivation..<br \/>\n2. Identify these procrastination loops when they start to unfold,<br \/>\n3. Identify some of the thoughts underlying the discomfort and reframe them,<br \/>\n4. We rarely stop to see the costs it carries. Imposter syndrome distorts the way we see ourselves, our<br \/>\nperformance, and our capabilities. Both reflect our doubts and fears \u2013 fear of being judged, fear of failing, fear of not being good enough, fear of not belonging. They\u2019re the product of distorted thinking patterns. Thinking patterns that we can change.<br \/>\nWe explore:<br \/>\n1. The true costs of these doubts and fears, and the extent to which they are impacting on your productivity, mental clarity, and your joy for what you do.<br \/>\n2.
