{"id":141734,"date":"2021-12-06T15:27:31","date_gmt":"2021-12-06T14:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/?p=141734"},"modified":"2021-12-06T17:22:58","modified_gmt":"2021-12-06T16:22:58","slug":"foundation-of-the-deep-brain-stimulation-society","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/en\/foundation-of-the-deep-brain-stimulation-society\/","title":{"rendered":"Foundation of the &#8220;Deep Brain Stimulation Society&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since its invention, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) has grown in importance and has been applied in new treatments for several neurological and psychiatric pathologies.<\/p>\n<p>A new society, the \u00ab Deep Brain Stimulation Society \u00bb, has been founded by several experts in the field:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Abdelhamid Benazzouz (Bordeaux, France) : Neurophysiology\/Neuroscience<\/li>\n<li>Yasin Temel (Maastricht University, The Netherlands) : Neurosurgery\/Neurotechnology<\/li>\n<li>Lee Wei Lim (Hong Kong, China) : Neuroscience<\/li>\n<li>Veerle Visser-Vandewalle (Cologne, Germany) : Neurosurgery<\/li>\n<li>Elena Moro (Grenoble, France) : Neurology<\/li>\n<li>Paulo de Aguair (Sao Paulo, Brazil) : Neurosurgery<\/li>\n<li>Ersoy Kocabicak (Samsun, Turkey) : Neurosurgery<\/li>\n<li>Metin Sitti (Stuttgart, Germany) : Physical Intelligence &amp; Neurotechnology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong data-wp-editing=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-141731 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Benazzouz-abdelhamid-DSC_1060-p.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"191\" height=\"287\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Benazzouz-abdelhamid-DSC_1060-p.jpg 480w, https:\/\/www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Benazzouz-abdelhamid-DSC_1060-p-240x360.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 191px) 100vw, 191px\" \/>Abdelhamid Benazzouz<\/strong>, group leader at IMN, has been elected president of the DBS Society which is located in the Centre Broca Nouvelle-Aquitaine, in Bordeaux.<\/p>\n<p>The first international annual congress of the DBS Society will take place <strong>in Bordeaux on July 4th to 6th, 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>All students and researchers working in the field of DBS are invited <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dbssociety.org\/index.php\/membership-category\/\">to become members<\/a>, to foster close collaborations, exchange ideas, and debate the issues of concern.<\/p>\n<h3>Mission of the Deep Brain Stimulation Society:<\/h3>\n<p>1. To promote the development of research in all fields of Deep Brain Stimulation, including Ethics, Neuroscience, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Neurotechnology and Engineering, Psychology, and Paramedicine;<\/p>\n<p>2. To ensure the dissemination of DBS knowledge;<\/p>\n<p>3. To organize knowledge exchange between researchers through the organization of meetings, conferences, symposia, and educational activities such as seminars and workshops, or any other related events or activities;<\/p>\n<p>4. To stimulate relations between basic, preclinical, technological, clinical and industrial research;<\/p>\n<p>5.
