The candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team using cellular &amp; molecular biology, anatomy and behavior (Mireille Montcouquiol, Inserm and <strong>Neurocentre Magendie<\/strong> at the <strong>Bordeaux<\/strong> <strong>Neurocampus<\/strong>) and electrophysiology techniques (Didier Dulon, Inserm Bordeaux Neurocampus and I<strong>nstitut pour l&#8217;Audition<\/strong> Paris) to understand the auditory hair cell maturation. The project focuses on how genetic mutations that disrupt polarity mechanisms cause sensorineural deafness and associated deficits in the central nervous system (see <em>Mauriac et al., <\/em><em>Nat Commun<\/em><em>. 2017 7;8:14907<\/em>). We want to dissect the functional changes occurring at the mechanosensitive structures of the auditory hair cells, the hair bundles, but also at the auditory ribbon synapses in mouse models (<em>see Dulon et al., <\/em><em>J Clin Invest. 2018 Aug 1;128(8):3382-3401.; Vincent et al., Cell Rep. 2018 Dec 18;25(12):3451-3464.<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and have previous experience with whole cell patch-clamp electrophysiology and calcium imaging. Expertise in electrophysiology of the central nervous system (notably the cortex or the hippocampus) is a plus.
