Each colour represents one type of network, which is interconnected to specific neurons and functions. Neuronal network assembly then outputs a matrix of complex behaviours. The diagram is intended to be read either centripetally (networks -&gt; neurons -&gt; functions -&gt; behaviours) or centrifugally (behaviours -&gt; functions -&gt; neurons -&gt; networks). Grey lines and grey squares represents unknown features that will eventually be uncovered. Finally, opened circles (white) represent support cells, constituting the vast majority of the central nervous system.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Lines and circles were automatically generated in silico using the free R software (https:\/\/cran.r-project.org\/) with mathart, ggart and packcircles packages. Other features were drawn by hand.
