Our work is focused on the role of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), a cellular fuel sensor, and the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in controlling food intake and energy expenditure. We are identifying neuronal substrates and cellular mechanisms underlying the action of the mTOR pathway within the hypothalamus. We currently aim at understanding the relationship between cannabinoids type1 receptor (a molecular actor of the ECS) and mTORC1-dependent signaling in the control of neuronal circuits regulating food intake and body weight.
