DESCRIPTION:CARF Building Amphitheater \nIn the context of Christer Lohk’s PhD defense \n\n9:30 AM – Christophe Zimmer\nRudolf Virchow Zentrum\, Würzburg\, Germany\nAI for Microbiology and Epidemiology \n10:30 AM – Thomas Walter\nInstitut Curie\, Paris\, France\nComputer Vision for Spatial Transcriptomics \nSpatial Transcriptomics (ST) is a technique that maps gene expression to specific locations within a tissue\, thereby combining spatial information with transcriptomic data. ST enables the study of the spatial organization of cell types and cellular states\, and how these relate to tissue structure and function. ST poses several computational challenges\, including image segmentation\, single-cell deconvolution\, and cross-modality prediction\, where the goal is to infer transcriptomic profiles from morphological phenotypes. \nIn this lecture\, Dr. Walter will present recent developments in these areas. He will discuss methods for predicting molecular signatures from histology images\, as well as work on cell segmentation from image-based spatial transcriptomics data. Finally\, he will introduce an approach for predicting single-cell gene expression from morphological phenotypes\, leveraging paired Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) and spatial transcriptomics data. \n
