SUMMARY:Seminar - Reza Vafabakhsh
DESCRIPTION:(Amphi du Centre Broca) \nReza Vafabakhsh\nGroup leader (Assistant Professor) – Chicago \nInvitant : Olivier Thoumine\nGroup leader IINS \n\nAbstract\nThe brain is a network of billions of neurons that are interconnected by synapses. Each synapse is made up of more than a thousand different proteins\, that exist at a wide range of copy numbers from just a few to thousands\, and ordered in a volume of micrometer in length scale. The focus of our lab is to acquire a quantitative mechanistic characterization of synaptic players at different length scales\, from a single protein to the synapse level\, to describe this complexity and towards understanding of the molecular nature of information processing in the brain. We do so by developing quantitative biophysical and cell biology analyses using cutting edge single molecule and high throughput approaches that draw from cell biology\, chemistry\, physics and engineering. \n\nSelected publications\nStructural dynamics of potassium-channel gating revealed by single-molecule FRET. SUMMARY:Thesis defense - Laurie Robin
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n30/11/2018\, 13h30. \nDirecteur de thèse: Giovanni Marsicano \, team leader: “Endocannabinoids and Neuroadaptation” Neurocentre Magendie \n\n\n\nThe endocannabinoid system is an important modulator of physiological functions. It is composed of cannabinoid receptors\, their endogenous lipid ligands (the endocannabinoids) and the enzymatic machinery for endocannabinoid synthesis and degradation. The type-1 cannabinoid receptors (CB1) are expressed in different cell types of the brain and are known to be involved in memory processes. Endocannabinoids are mobilized in an activity-dependent manner in brain areas involved in the modulation of memory such as the hippocampus. In this brain region\, CB1 receptors are mainly expressed at neuronal pre-synaptic terminals where their stimulation inhibits the release of neurotransmitters\, thereby modulating several forms of synaptic activity. \n \nPublications\n \nRobin\, L.M.*\, Oliveira da Cruz\, J.F.*\, Langlais\, V.C.*\, Martin-Fernandez\, M.\, Metna-Laurent\, M.\, Busquets-Garcia\, A.\, Bellocchio\, L.\, Soria-Gomez\, E.\, Papouin\, T.\, Varilh\, M.\, Sherwood MW.\, Belluomo I.\, Balcells G.\, Matias I.\, Bosier B.\, Drago F.\, Van Eeckhaut A.\, Smolders I.\, Georges F.\, Araque A.\, Panatier A.\, Oliet SHR#\, Marsicano G#.
