SUMMARY:Symposium - Glia\, metabolism\, synapses and behavior
DESCRIPTION:Venue: Centre Broca \n\nOrganised by Giovanni Marsicano (Magendie) \nAbout the symposium\n\nMetabolic interactions between glial cells and neurons shape synaptic function and modulate behavior. In the brain\, astrocytes and myelinating oligodendrocytes supply neurons with energy substrates\, mainly lactate\, to provide homeostatic metabolic support for axonal function and integrity. The metabolic features of neuron-glia interactions are complex and heterogeneous\, and emerge nowadays as novel players in the pathogenesis of neurological disorders. This symposium will present recent evidence on the cellular mechanisms underlying metabolic cooperation between astrocytes\, oligodendrocytes and neurons and their implications at the synaptic and behavioral levels and provide insights on the bioenergetic perturbations affecting glial cells during neuroinflammation. \nProgram\n14:00 – Giovanni Marsicano – NeuroCentre Magendie\nOpening remarks \n14:05 – Juan P. Bolaños – University of Salamanca\nMetabolic control of astrocytic mitochondrial supercomplexes in ROS signaling and behavior \n14:45 – Aude Panatier – NeuroCentre Magendie\nGlucose and lactate: when energy is required to calm down \n15:25 – Ignacio Fernández-Moncada – NeuroCentre Magendie\nNot only shuttle: CB1 integration of metabolic and signaling processes in behavior \n16:00 – Coffee Break \n16:30 – Anne-Karine Bouzier-Sore – CRMSB\nThe Astrocyte-Neuron Lactate Shuttle: Relevance for brain function & dysfunction \n17:10 – Susana Mato – University of the Basque Country\nSynaptic and metabolic implications of cortical astrocyte dysfunction in multiple sclerosis \n17:40 – Aiman Saab – University of Zurich\nOligodendrocyte functions shape axonal energy metabolism \n18:20 Giovanni Marsicano\nClosing remarks \n
