SUMMARY:Thesis defense - Stefano Ioannucci
DESCRIPTION:On Zoom\nhttps://u-bordeaux-fr.zoom.us/j/84171445933\n \n\n\nStefano Ioannucci\n\nTeam: Motor control and cognition\nINCIAThesis supervisor:\nAlexandre Zénon\nTitle\nExploration of the neural mechanisms of fatigue by passive induction \nAbstract\nCognitive activity is aversive\, is felt to require effort\, and when prolonged\, leads to mental fatigue. However\, the origin of the aversive aspect of cognition and the neural mechanisms that lead to fatigue still remain enigmas for neuroscience. The aim of this thesis is to test the hypothesis that prolonged recruitment of brain networks leads to local alterations in neuronal activity and to determine whether the aversive aspect of cognition is a protective mechanism against these neuronal alterations. The experimental approach is to study the consequences of prolonged task performance on the brain by measuring the state of the brain network independently of task performance\, using Electroencephalography and Multivariate Pattern Analysis. \n \nKeywords: cognitive fatigue\, mental effort\, cross-sensory cognitive load\, MVPA\, EEG\n\nPublication\nhttps://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.11.19.390096v2 \nJury\nJoel Swendsen (president)\n\nSara Mednick (rapporteur)\n\nGiovanni de Marco (rapporteur)\n\nBénédicte Poulin-Charronnat (examinateur)\n\nAlexandre Zénon (superviseur)\n
