SUMMARY:Seminar - Sophie Bavard
DESCRIPTION:Venue: Centre Broca \n\nSophie Bavard\nParis Brain Institute\nhttps://sophiebavard.wixsite.com/research \nInvited by Shauna Parkes (INCIA) \nTitle\nWhat shapes our learning? Context\, others\, and ourselves \nSummary\nIn this talk\, I will present how my research has explored different ways people learn\, both on their own and by watching others. First\, I used reinforcement learning models to understand how people adjust their internal value representations\, and hence their choices\, depending on the context in which decisions were made. I then shifted toward social learning to understand how people infer others’ preferences by observing not just their choices\, but also their decision times. More recently\, I’ve been looking at how people use their own confidence to guide learning in the absence of external feedback. Across these projects\, I have used computational models to better understand the processes behind these different forms of learning.\n\n
