SUMMARY:Seminar - Nathalie Dehorter
DESCRIPTION:Venue : Centre Broca \n\nNathalie Dehorter\nQueensland Brain Institute\, The University of Queensland – Australia\nhttps://qbi.uq.edu.au/profile/16195/nathalie-dehorter \nInvited by Margaux Lebouc and Jérôme Baufreton (IMN) \n\nTitle\nMonitoring the Monitors: Molecular Control of the Developing Interneurons in Health and Disease \nAbstract\nInterneurons display functional diversity with unique gene expression profiles and distinct electrophysiological signatures which are essential to maintain the excitation-inhibition balance in neuronal networks. Yet\, there is a profound lack of insight into how specific subclasses of interneurons adjust their activity via activity-dependent transcriptional programs to ultimately shape circuit development and homeostasis in health and disease. For this talk\, I will present published and unpublished work uncovering the role of key regulators of interneuron function and will show how targeting developing interneurons in autism spectrum disorder represents a viable target to treat the deleterious symptoms of this condition. \nBiosketch\nDr Nathalie Dehorter is a group leader at the Queensland Brain Institute\, University of Queensland and Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University. Her research interests aim to unravel the molecular command behind the function of the developing interneurons of the cortex and striatum to expand our understanding of brain development and pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric conditions such as autism spectrum disorder. \nPublications\nParvalbumin Interneuron Activity Underlies Vulnerability to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Autism.  Al Abed AS\,  Allen TV\,  Ahmed NY\,  Sellami A\,  Sontani Y\,  Marighetto A\, Desmedt A\,  Dehorter N.
