Translocator protein 18 kDa (TSPO) is a highly expressed protein in inflammatory cells of the brain: activated microglia and reactive astrocytes in brain. TSPO is, thereby, a potential biomarker of neuroinflammation. This protein can be accurately quantified using positron emission tomography and [11C]PBR28, a new TSPO radioligand.
This talk will discuss advantages and limitations of [11C]PBR28 and present the results of several clinical protocols performed at the Molecular Imaging Branch of the National Institute of Mental Health.

Paolo Zanotti-Fregonara

Paolo Zanotti-Fregonara est post-doctoral fellow dans le Molecular Imaging Branch du NIH de Bethesda, Maryland. Il s'occupe du traitement d'image, de la validation préclinique et de l'application clinique de nouveaux traceurs pour les récepteurs cérébraux. Il travaille actuellement sur l'imagerie des récepteurs du glutamate, l'imagerie du second messager intracellulaire cAMP et de l'épilepsie pharmacorésistante.
