L'Université de Bordeaux vient de signer un Memorandum of Understanding avec le Florey Institute of Neuroscience, qui complète l'accord que l'Université de Bordeaux avait déjà avec l'Université de Melbourne.

 Professor Geoffrey Donnan is Director of The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health and Professor of Neurology, The University of Melbourne (Department of Medicine).  His major interests are in neuroimaging and clinical trials.  
He was co-founder of the Australian Stroke Trials Network (ASTN) and Neuroscience Trials Australia (NTA).  His major contributions have been in the introduction of new stroke interventions such as thrombolysis and thrombectomy as well as developing a better understanding of the evolution of viable cerebral ischaemic tissue, the ischaemic penumbra.  He has also had a major interest in the interface between the basic and clinical sciences in stroke medicine and establishing new standards for the conduct of preclinical research.  Professor Donnan has published over 400 papers in peer reviewed journals, over 60 book chapters, edited four books and has been Lecturer or Visiting Professor in numerous countries.  
He is Past President of the Stroke Society of Australasia, the Australian Association of Neurologists and the World Stroke Organization.  He received the American Stroke Association William Feinberg Award for Excellence in Clinical Stroke Research in 2007 and in 2012 was appointed as an Officer within the Order of Australia (AO) for his distinguished service to neurology and research contributions.  
Also in 2012 he received the World Stroke Organization’s leadership in stroke award and was awarded the Karolinska Stroke Award for excellence in stroke research, and in 2015 was appointed a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.
